SUMMARY:June 2020 Student Forum
DESCRIPTION:Student Forum Meetings are intended for current/prospective students at UCSC-Extension who are enrolled in the Personal Financial Planning Program\, alumni\, and for members of any FPA chapter.  These meetings are not open to the general public. \n\nTopic: Webinar Topic \n\nOverview:\nWhat does money mean to you? Please join us for this dynamic session where Dr. Renée Snow will present two different worldviews of the “Meaning of Money”\, and our relationship with the same. She will present a unique view of the Time Value of Money\, and will delve into some of the traditional Western Wealth Philosophies\, such as the Protestant Work Ethic\, and how these have informed Western Capitalism\, and have created some individual and societal challenges. She will then share some Eastern Philosophies – Vedas\, Buddhism\, and Jainism\, and some of the associated life practices as related to finances and money. There will be learnings that you can share with your clients\, and help guide them towards a better balanced relationship with their wealth and finances. There will be time for questions\, and some interactive discussion about practical applications.\nWe hope that this session will take place physically at the UCSC-Extension in Silicon Valley. If community guidelines prohibit large gatherings\, we will try and make alternate arrangements.\n \nSpeaker:Dr. Renée Snow\, CFP®\, EA \nLocation: Online \nRegistration: Click here to register. Registration for this event is free. Registration will close on June 3\, 2020. \nSpeaker Bio: \nRenée Snow\, Ph.D.\, CFP®\, EA\, a registered principal and investment advisor representative\, has worked as a Certified Financial Planner® for the past 20 years. She has combined technical expertise with psychology and philosophy in service to her clients. She earned a M.S. in accountancy and worked eight years for a large regional CPA firm. She manages her own firm and specializes in tax planning\, asset management\, and the psychological aspects of wealth management. As a financial planning instructor at UCSC Extension\, she grounds students in the philosophy of economics while giving them the practical tools to work in the financial services industry. The focus of her research has been an inquiry into the ancient texts of Buddhism\, Hinduism\, and Jainism as they apply to financial management. Snow has published works in the areas of leadership and behavioral finance. She currently serves as chair of the Personal Financial Planning Certificate Program Advisory Board for UCSC Extension.
