DESCRIPTION:Overview:\nCrucial Estate Planning Issues for Elders:   Powers of Attorneys\, Long-Term Care Planning\, and Medi-Cal\nAre your clients or loved ones age 60 or older\, and concerned about being able to afford long-term care in the home or elsewhere? Are they concerned about the government coming after their home or assets if they enroll in Medi-Cal to help pay for health care or long-term skilled nursing? This session will debunk myths about Medi-Cal and long-term care options\, highlight real risks\, and explain how estate planning documents can protect the client’s family. We will also cover special issues for married\, unmarried\, and same-sex couples. \n1.5 hours CFP CE is available for this session pending approval by the CFP Board. \nFeatured Partner is Scott Pyes of Natixis. \nAbout the Speaker:\nAlma Soongi Beck is a partner in the Trusts and Estates Group of Lakin Spears\, LLP and is certified by the State Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in estate planning\, trust and probate law. \nPrior to joining Lakin Spears\, Alma was principal and founding attorney of The Beck Law Group\, P.C. Alma’s estate planning practice focuses on revocable living trusts\, wills\, and powers of attorney\, which includes Medi-Cal and long-term care planning\, IRA Inheritance Trusts\, and beneficiary controlled irrevocable trusts. For unmarried and same-sex couples\, she also offers consultations on the legal and tax implications of domestic partnership\, marriage\, and property co-ownership.
