Student Forum Meetings are intended for prospective and current students at UCSC-Extension in the Personal Financial Planning Program, UCSCX PFP alumni, and for members of the Financial Planning Association (any chapter). These meetings are not open to the general public.

Surviving an Audit of Your Practice (California)

****Please join us in this collaborative session between the UCSCX In Silicon Valley’s PFP Student Forum Group, and the FPASV’s Brown Bag Lunch team. A light lunch will be served. Registration is required and seating will be limited. Doors open at 11:30 am for networking.****

All financial planners and wealth managers registered with either the State of California, or for larger firms, with the SEC, face the prospect of a practice audit. This session is specifically focused on the State of California Department of Corporations audit process. For many, the prospect of an audit brings feelings of trepidation and uncertainty, especially for a first time audit.

Please join us at this interactive session where 2-3 practitioners will share their recent experiences with a Department of Corporations practice audit. Practitioners representing both an in-office audit, and a paper audit will be on the panel. They will share information regarding the communication methods of auditors, the process that it used to identify and gather the required information, the access the auditors require to complete their assessment, and even more importantly, the process of communicating deficiencies and the expected resolution steps or process.

The panelists will share their learnings and suggestions for other practitioners to take steps now to prepare their practice, as well as any recommendations to reduce the stress involved during the process.

This will be an interactive panel session, with opportunities for questions from the audience.

Registration for this free event will be available soon at on this website and at www.ucsc.edu. Badges will be prepared for those registering for this event. Registration will close when we reach maximum capacity.Walk-ins may be restricted.
