This presentation is based upon a basic premise that financial advisers must be able to demonstrate and articulate a thorough working knowledge of the retirement income process, to successfully compete for the $1.5 trillion of IRA rollover assets in motion during the next five years.
The presentation is based upon original research and begins by studying the first nine years of retirements that began in the face of the 1973 and 2000 bear markets. These devastating nine year periods were chosen to determine what structural changes to the portfolio construction and distribution strategies could have enhanced the sustainability of the retirement portfolio and why.
Strategies that were tested and researched include optimal spending rates, spending policies, high and growing dividend stock strategies and cash flow reserve strategies.
