Title: Update on Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs)
Speaker: Richard C. Dayton, JD, Certified Estate Planning Specialist
Rich Dayton will cover the basics of Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs), which remain an attractive estate planning tool despite attempts by Congress to limit their usefulness. GRATs allow individuals and families to transfer volatile assets such as company stock and pre-IPO shares out of their taxable estate to their beneficiaries without incurring gift taxes. There are many ways to use GRATs to benefit your wealthy clients who are subject to estate tax and want to transfer assets to their children or charities. Rich will explain how GRATs work, when they are most useful, and present a case study showing how to
use them successfully. He will also cover pending legislation to alter GRATs, and the impact this new law is likely to have on this popular estate planning technique.
Attorney Richard C. Dayton www.taxandestateplanners.com provides estate planning counsel to couples, families, individuals and businesses and is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law. Mr. Dayton also teaches Estate Planning for Certified Financial Planners in training. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and is associated with several professional organizations and advisory Boards.
Seating is limited. To reserve your seat, please RSVP early to Dan Taylor at DanTaylor@Yahoo.com. A $10 fee will be collected at the door.
