One Planner's Take on Using LinkedIn
Career and Practice
Written by Skip Frenzel

LinkedInJust in case you’ve been living on another planet lately, there is a new trend rocking the world, social media.  It’s a new way to stay in touch and show everybody what is going on in your life.  I’m not a big fan of it because I think it is an invasion of privacy, a potential ID theft vehicle, and since it is highly addictive, it can be unsafe it you engineer a train, operate a school bus, or drive a car.  To me, not only texting, but talking on a cell phone should be illegal.  Bet I made lots of points with that statement.  But that is a different subject.

So I don’t use Facebook, Twitter, or the other social sites, but I am big on LinkedIn.  LinkedIn is a professional site that allows people to network, share ideas, express views, and look for jobs. It is not a social site.  In that context, I think it is fantastic.  But like with fire, it must be used properly, or you could get burned.

Get Your FREE LISTING in the New Find A Professional Directory

FPA Silicon Valley is developing an online public directory that will allow vistiors, and fellow FPASV members, to search FPASV members by location, professional focus, and service offerings.  We will promote your practice or business, allow you to display a logo and description, and link to your website and email!

Listing in the Find A Professional directory is FREE to all FPASV members, but you must "Opt In".

Please send your name and FPA number to webmaster@fpasv.org in order to get added to our list. Once we have enough members to make a directory usable, we will be requesting any additional information that you may like to add to your listing, such as a logo, website address, etc. We will then make it live. You will be responsible for keeping your information up to date thereafter, by contacting the webmaster with any changes. We look forward to getting this directory working for you, our members!
