Q: Briefly describe the Foundation for Financial Planning and its impact in the community.

A: The Foundation for Financial Planning (FFP) is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization. Our mission is to help people take control of their financial lives, by connecting the financial planning community with people in need. This is achieved through grant support of pro bono advice and outreach activities.

Mark Clark (FPA of Silicon Valley) – Clark is honored for his commitment to teaching financial education and L.I.F.E. skills to hundreds of youth through many agencies and organizations in Northern California. In addition to co-developing financial education curriculum for foster youth, he also coordinates the delivery of the program and engages volunteers, many from within the FPA community. Clark founded Moneydawg Solutions and the MONEY Institute 4 L.I.F.E

Regardless of whether the SEC eventually broadens fiduciary responsibility to include all providers of financial advice, Washington is a couple of steps behind the marketplace in demanding a fiduciary standard.
The Securities and Exchange Commission's mandate to study the fiduciary issue, of course, is one outcome of the House-Senate conference that produced a compromise financial-reform bill. But the committee's nod to the SEC did little more than acknowledge an idea that has already taken hold among investors: that all financial advisers should follow the same standard of client-focused care.
